Community Bulletin Board Policy Print
PUBLIC SERVICES POLICY NUMBER PUB91—7
ADOPTED: July 15, 1991
REVISED August 22, 2006

The community bulletin board(s) of the Jefferson County Library are made available free of charge to not-for-profit organizations, local organizations, individuals, and businesses to publicize community not-for-profit events.

All items must be accepted by the branch library manager or a designated library employee before being posted. The library will develop criteria regarding the size of material displayed, and length of time materials remain on the community bulletin board(s). Library staff may remove any materials that are no longer timely (meaning the date of the event has passed or the material has been posted for the maximum time period allowed) and any authorized material which has been posted.

The community bulletin board(s) will be clearly designated, and will be separate from bulletin boards for Library use. A disclaimer will be posted, stating that by posting materials, the Library does not endorse, promote, nor agree with the viewpoints of any group or individual.

Bulletin board postings may not promote the use of alcohol, illegal drugs, or tobacco products, nor contain any information or subject matter which violates city, state, or federal statutes.

Material for which there is a question related to the appropriateness of posing shall be referred to the Director for decision by the Director or Director’s delegee. Any group, organization, or individual may within 20 days of the Director’s decision in writing appeal the Director’s decision to the Jefferson County Library Board of Trustees.
